Ruin of Brada Castle

Bohemian Paradise

Brada-Rybnicek

The ridge covered with forest above the Jinolické Rybníky Ponds is dominated by Přivýšina, 463 m, not far from there, to the east, there was an early- Gothic castle named Brada.

The oldest mentions of Brada Castle date back to the 13th century. At the beginning of the 14th century Brada was connected to Veliš, a royal castle; under the rule of John Luxembourg the property was acquired by the Vartemberk family (1327). Brada was a part of Veliš until the end of the 1430s. Towards the end of the 15th century Brada Castle was deteriorating and was slowly ruined.

Locality: 5 km to the north from Jičín, to the north from the village of Brada-Rybníček.
