Malá Skála is located around 8km north-east of Turnov, it lies on both banks of the Jizera. The dominant feature of the village is the ruin of Vranov - Pantheon Rock Castle, rising up proudly above the village.

Malá Skála is situated in a deep valley of the Jizera, below the slopes of Suché skály of Vranovský hřbet and Sokol. It is an important holiday resort and starting point to Český ráj, in particular to Suché skály, Drábovna or Frýdštejn. In summer you may have a swim and in winter there are good conditions for skiing. The Jizera, which runs through the village, attracts water sportsmen; rock towns are popular with climbers.
