The Renaissance building was designed by Matteo Borgorelli, an Italian architect. The most distinctive feature is the decorative sgraffito facade that depicts evangelists and saints, including the patron of the Czech lands, St. Wenceslas. The stucco cassette ceiling supported by the only central column of Tuscan style in the meeting room on the first floor is considered a truly unique example of architectural craft and skill. The room is open to the public only for special occasions. In the 18th century, the Town Hall was completed with a tower in the Baroque style that is now accessible to tourists as the one and only lookout point for bird's-eye views of interesting places in the region of Mladá Boleslav and its wide surroundings.
The gallery, under the onion-shaped helmet, is equipped with binoculars. At all sides of the rectangular gallery, there are tables showing all dominant buildings and and natural formations that one can see and identify from the tower.
Since 2005, the Town Hall loft has accommodated an exposition called The Tower Ghosts. The name is perhaps confusing as visitors come across heroes of local legends rather than ghosts. Each legend is described in detail right at the particular genre scenes.
