Stružinec is located around 7km south of Semily, north-west of Lomnice nad Popelkou. The village extends in a picturesque valley of the Žlábek brook, surrounded by hills.

It is not known exactly when Stružinec was founded. The village location suggests that the territory was probably colonized during the times of the last Přemislids. Stružinec belonged to the Lomnice nad Popelkou estate.

The environs of Stružince are good for hiking; there is Bozkovské jeskyně nearby and Kozákov, a hill with a viewing tower and caves at the foot.
