The first mention of the village dates back to 1369. The originally Gothic-style church situated in the graveyard in Nová Ves was mentioned as early as 1362. In 1768 - 1769 it received a Baroque shape. The side Marian altar features a late Gothic-style statue of the Madonna with the Infant Jesus from the early 16th century.
The surroundings conceal numerous attractions such as the ruins of Kumburk Castle, situated approximately 3 km to the south-west of Nová Ves, or the hill of Tábor towering south of Lomnice nad Popelkou. The entire Podkrkonoší region is interlaced with copious cycling paths along which you can set off to admire the wonders of the region. In the winter season, you can choose from several skiing resorts in the Krkonoše Mountains, directly in Lomnice or further up in Benecko or Rokytnice nad Jizerou.
