The castle was used as a castle warden's residence. In the course of time, it served as offices and later it was also the residence of the authorities of the time.

After the Thirty Years War, it was administered by the city authority and deteriorated. In the mid 18th century the whole building was rebuilt into barracks and used by the army until 1953. When the army left, it was used as a textile storehouse (until 1972).

At present, it is the residence of the Museum of the Mladá Boleslav region.
