The figure of Albrecht of Valdtejn is linked not only to the Thirty Years' War, but also with the beginnings of Baroque art here. After he converted to the Catholic Church, this opened the way to his military successes and a brilliant career. In addition to this, Valdtejn was also a noteworthy economist of his era and from the centre of his Frýdlant duchy, Jičín, he created a model for early Baroque architecture. His death on 25 February 1634, ended not merely the career of one of the most significant figures of our history, but for a long time it also ended the further development of Jičín itself, which was convulsed in that era by the events of the Thirty Years' War.The Bohemian Paradise Association published a tourist guide, map and interconnected the participating subjects with a motivation game.
