Kozakov (744 m)

, velikost: 50.16 KB, obrázek se otevře v novém okněA natural place of Interest (162,8 HECTARS, PROCLAIMED IN 1990). It is the highest hill in the foot-hills of the Giant Mountains. Since it towers steeply above the surroundings (nearly 450 meters above the river Jizera at Semily), it is the most important dominant of the Bohemian Paradise. It forms a part of the Jested-Kozakov ridge. The protected area lies on the southwest slope where volcanically lifted rock floes of the upper chalk sandstone occur (massif Drabovna with a room cut into the rocks, pseudokarst cave Babi and Kudrnacova furnace). Rock climbers climb in Mesicni udoli (the Moon valley). North and northeast slopes are formed by melaphyre volcanic rock out of which agates, jaspers and amethysts have been extracted since the 16th century (Votrubcuv lom - Votrubcuv quarry on the east slope). There is Riegrova chata (Rieger's chalet) for tourists on the top of Kozákov along with a newly built viewpoint (48,5 meters) and a ski lift.

Open: April - October - Sa, Su, hol. 9-17
Adrress: Rieger´s Hut, Kozakov 45, tel.: 481 320 100, 481 625 294, kct@mikroservis.cz, www.kct.semily.cz

Medenec (544 m)

A forested hill above the confluence of the Jizera and Kamenice Rivers. On its hillside is the basalt "Mysi skala" (Mouse Rock), from which there is a very nice view on the region, particularly into the valley of the Jizera, which includes a 40m high, articulated wall. Access along blue tourist markings from the Spálov railway stop or from Semily.

Muzsky (463 m)

A basalt peak in the middle of a sandstone plateau. As a real "muzsky" (man), it dominates the landscape and from it there is a unique circular view. In the past, Muzsky has endured violently tumultuous crowds in camps of people as well as the senseless brutality of the Austro-Prussian War of 1866. Access to it is from the small road connecting the village of the same name and the cottage Na krasne vyhlidce.

Tabor (678 m)

A pilgrimage site with church (from 1704) and a tourist cottage with a lookout tower 26m high. This forested melaphyre hill was originally named Chlum, called Tabor since the period of the Hussite movement, when camps of people were held on its top. A Calvary dating from 1898 winds its way from the well Krizovka to the top. The cottage with lookout tower is currently closed to the public.
