The Golden Path of Bohemian Paradise - day 4.

Route: TURNOV – Dolánky u Turnova – Bukovina – Drábovna –Frýdštejn Castle – Pantheon – MALÁ SKÁLA (12 km)

Difficulty: Steep descents towards the end. Between Bukovina and Drábovna, the path crosses the I/10 road outside a village!!!

Today’s part of the hike starts in Turnov where you can visit several interesting places. On the right bank of the Jizera, you can see the Hrubý Rohozec State Chateau, looming on top of a tall rock. In summer, it can be accessed from the Golden Path via a staircase (Zámecká naučná stezka – the Chateau Trail).

Not far from there, in Dolánky u Turnov, you can see Dlaskův statek (farm). It houses the ethnographic exposition of the Museum of Bohemian Paradise with a mineralogical collection, a treasury and a giant painting by Mikoláš Aleš (Pobití Sasíků pod Hrubou Skálou –Defeating the Saxons below Hrubá Skála) in the main building. The Museum can be found on Skálova Street.

From Dolánky u Turnova, the Golden Path will take us via Bukovina to Drábovna, a smaller group of rock formations with a view of the Malá Skála area and the Jizera River. A smaller wooden castle used to stand here (make a short detour, free admission).

The next stop is the Frýdštejn castle ruins with a massive cylindrical tower from where you can see the region. From the castle, the trail descends along the Vranovský hřeben Ridge to Panteon, which was built in the Romantic style from the remains of Vranov Castle. It commemorates many great figures, appreciated by Zachariáš Römisch, the lord of the Malá Skála dominion. The last stop is the Zahrádka lookout. From here you can see Malá Skála, Suché skály (rocks), the Chléviště area, etc., from a rock promontory high above the Kizera River.

After that, you just need to descend to Malá Skála where this section of the hike ends. Malá Skála has been a destination for both those looking for peace and those in need for adrenalin. You can find Boučkův statek (farm) here with the Maloskalská Gallery, Žlutá plovárna (a public swimming pool), a rope centre, a boat and scooter rental, an information centre and the Jizera Greenway passing through the centre of the village. There are also many options for accommodation and restaurants.
